Iraq

From today's NYtimes editorial on Iraq:

"Consider this all too familiar horror: yesterday, police said they pulled six bodies from the Tigris River about 25 miles south of Baghdad. They were handcuffed and showed signs of having been tortured. And five, including a child, had been beheaded."

Now, how the hell are we going to create a Western style democracy out of these barbarians? They deserved Saddam.

Islam allows people to justify their violent acts. Predisposition towards violence may have a genetic component.

Many in the evo-psych community think that religiosity evolved in the past few 100,000 in humans, so belief must have some sort of genetic component.

Also, many links exist between IQ and intensity of belief. Since IQ is largely heritable, that would mean by proxy that religious belief is inherited too.
